The Long Game | Working Towards a Common Aquaculture Strategy

Big-picture thinking is critical to identifying what is possible now, and in the future. What is also important is understanding that there are many small moving parts contributing to the greater goal, just as krill is significant to the health of the Southern Ocean ecosystem.

In the 2014 National Aquaculture Statement, the government and industry developed the National Aquaculture Strategy, which fulfils an election commitment made in the Coalition’s 2013 Policy for a More Competitive and Sustainable Fisheries Sector.

The strategy includes a set of actions that represent a blueprint for the Australian Government, state and NT governments, and the industry to achieve the goal of doubling the value of Australia’s aquaculture industry to $2 billion per year by 2027.

This strategy requires commitment from all sectors, by helping meet the growing demand for seafood nationally and internationally. The development of this strategy involved over 100 stakeholders, including state and NT governments, indigenous committees, research bodies, environmental non-government organisations, and over 60 industry bodies and operators.

This reinforces the significance of the National Aquaculture Strategy and the magnitude of the impact, highlighting the importance of every stakeholder in the industry. At ESAM, we are proud to serve this strategy and facilitate this ongoing growth.

Bringing more than 35 years of innovation and experience to the Australasian region, ESAM offers the aquaculture industry a premium solution in air technology. In a competitive world with pressure to improve performance and production, choose ESAM as your quality air technology partner, to contribute to the greater goal.

At ESAM, the goal is only a marker of the progress we make while in pursuit of something greater than ourselves.
